We cut off pears on Saturday for our first try at making preserves, well we DID it.. We cooked them off Sunday after we got home from church... I know, I know, it's suppose to be a day of rest and reflection of things, but sometimes life carries you in a different direction. You deal with it, and move on to do other things. That's the joy of life, or that's part of MY joy... Which I think my God understands.

Now we didn't get to many jars of pears this first time. It was our experimental test run, but boy let me tell you, they taste yummy, and they look so darn pretty in the jars. Yes we are going to can some more because the tree is still full of pears, but for now, here is a picture of some of the fruits of our labor.

Now don't those look yummy...and on a cold winter morning, it's gonna be good with hot biscuits and bacon. My mouth is watering, and my eyes are delighted with the looks of them...

BTW, you can CLICK the picture to make it larger. I think larger shows these better..

So friends, until next time, y'all kiss the kids, and hug someone that needs to know you care for them.. :)

Today was a pleasant day and I enjoyed it very much because the Mr. took the day off to go with me to Beltone. I had to get my hearing aide worked on. It had lost it's programming, making it very hard for me to understand what was being said. I'm totally deaf in the left ear, and only have about 70 percent hearing in my right ear. Y'all be thankful if you have good hearing, it's certainly NOT fun to be deaf.

When we got done with getting my hearing aide fixed we went to Biglots. The Mr. and I bought a few things, shampoo, T-shirt for him, and a display case for his dad's U.S. flag. His dad was in the service many many years ago. When the Mr.'s dad passed away in the 80's they gave him a military funeral. The family gets to keep the flag that has been draped over the casket. Well the Mr.'s mother always had the flag, but since she is in the nursing home and can't keep it any longer the flag will have a place in our home. I didn't want to put it in a closet and forget it. So I told the Mr. we needed to get the case for it to be kept safe and dust free. :)

Not much happening tonight, watching tv, surfing the net, and relaxing. I might be making pear preserves tomorrow, so got to rest up for that. I've never made pear preserves before, not by myself. I have helped my Mother and watched while my Mother-In-Law did it, but I'll be on my own this year. I hope I can get them right without goofin' it up to bad. We have two trees full of pears, and they are beginning to fall off the trees now. They are what we call October pears. The picture below is what they look like all ripe and ready for harvest.

So until next time y'all kiss the kids, and give hugs to those that need to know you love and care for them.

I've done as little as possible this morning. I'm got the energy of a snail this morning. I think it's due to this rainy weather we are getting AGAIN today. That seems to be all I have to post about lately is 'RAIN'..

I watched fat camp last night. Fat camp is 'the biggest loser' , but the Mr. and I call it fat camp. ha ha.. no I'm not making fun of the people, I'm making fun of the show's name.. I feel for all the people on that show, because I've got an over weight problem too, so there.. I need to be on the show, but nope, not me, I'm to shy and to out of shape. I would have to shape up to be able to exercise for 6 to 8 hours a day, like they say they have to. Plus my thoughts on that are this. I believe that as long as they are on the ranch and having all the trainers and help in their diets, then they will lose weight and keep it off.. but once they get home... well they better watch out.. It's twice as easy to gain it back once you lose so much. I know by my own experience. Over the years I've probably lost a whole other person, but it comes back with a vengence.

Think I'll go read some more of my book, but may come back to write more later...

We got up early, went to church services and spent the afternoon reading, and finishing up a few odds and ends around the house. We went back to the evening service and enjoyed the teachings and study in the book of Revelations. We are in the 11th chapter. What a great God we serve!!!

As for today well there isn't much to brag about other than to say it was a good day. I always feel a bit lonely on Monday and that's b'cause the Mr. has to go back to work. It's me and the fur baby come Monday mornings, but it's been this way a very long time so I should get use to it. Seems I never will but it has to be that way for now. The Mr. has been doing it going on 30 years at the same job. Someday I hope he decides to retire, but he loves what he does, so he keeps doing it. :)

I've been busy with the hook and thread for the past few weeks. I wanted to have something on hand in case I get one of those last minute baby shower invitations. I hate having to rush out and find something for a gift, so I try and keep a baby blanket made for that special little new person.

I don't always think that mothers to be want things made in the common everyday baby pink and blue, so I decided to vary from that and go with this 'I Love This Yarn' in seafoam stripe (color #500) and white (color #10).. Both are really soft yarns when knitted or crocheted and easy to care for. Simple wash and dry on delicate makes a lovely warm and soft blanket.

That's about it for today. Kiss the kids, and hug those that need someone to care about them.

The pattern for the blanket is from http://home.att.net/~susanBinKC/patterns/ripple.html and it's a freebie.

I slept in till 9 this morning. It felt good to wake up to a nice warm day. The sun came streaming through the kitchen window as we ate our croissant for breakfast. What a pleasant way to start a Saturday morning.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Oh BTW, here is a piccy of my flowering fern on the front porch. I think 'bonnie' is so precious and delicate.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">We've just had a new arobics septic system put in about two months ago. All this rain we've been having lately has left it looking like we're trying to install an in-ground pool or something. :( It's really more like a disaster area back there right now what with that sink hole it seems to be making. Sooooo the Mr. of the house got out his shovels, rakes, little garden cart and started pushing dirt this morning. He worked up a sweat, but it looks much better tonight. I'll have to take a picture when it gets dry enough for me to get back there.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">While he was working outside, I started making one of his favorite desserts - Sweet Potato Pie - It's been a while since I made them, but sweet potatoes were on sale this week at Brookshires. The Mr came home with about 5lbs of said potatoes and how could I say no to that man? Well I couldn't! I got started and got the taters cookin' and had the pies done by lunch time. He has almost eat half a pie by himself. :) I asked him to take me to get KFC for supper, NO DISHES tonight..
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Well that's been my day, and tomorrow is Sunday so I better get my Sunday school lesson read. I hope your day was a good one, so until next time...
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> Kiss the kids, and hug those that need it, and don't forget to give Thanks for all your blessing!Trishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17704434765943152802noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1909699260576204174.post-57713558286756171562009-10-16T13:33:00.005-05:002009-10-19T22:42:06.680-05:00Ballband Dishcloths and TGIF

Happy Friday to y'all. I'm so glad it finally got here. I live for the weekends cause I love spending time with my sweetheart - aka - (husband) for those 2 days. We don't have any kids, other than fur babie, so it gets sorta quiet when he's gone to work.

Well the sun is shining and the air is cool, but it's a beautiful day here in Texas. I hope y'alls part of the world is just as lovely. Not much going on today around here. Still haven't gotten my new glasses yet. Sorta gettin' anxious to find out if I am going to be able to see better. I sure hope so, cause my eyesight is really getting bad. I'm surprised the doctor's office hasn't called for me to come pick them up. Maybe they will by Monday, if not later today. I hate to be a pest and keep calling every day.

On another note, I decided to block my two new ballband dishrags that I knitted. I plan on giving them to a friend at church, so I wanted them to look extra nice. I know they're only dishcloths but it doesn't hurt to make them as pretty as I can.

You all have a great weekend, and hug your families and friends cause you never know when someone is lonely, hurting, or just needs the touch of a friend. :)

Here's a picture of the dishcloths while getting blocked. And the one below is the two all finished and ready to gift to someone special. The ripple blanket is one I crocheted over three years ago.

Hi once again. Well this was suppose to be about Trisha's dibbles and dabbles, so here is a little dabble in knitting. I wanted something to show my dabbling into the world of knitting, and well this is my very first completed article of clothing. A baby's sweater that I knit a little over a year ago. I learned a lot about knitting while making this cute little sweater. It was not made with any particular baby in mind, just one of those FIRST projects to get my feet 'eeerm hands' wet, so to speak. ha ha ha. I've still got a long way to go, I know, but I've been practicing a little each week. I'm sorta still stuck on making dishtowels and those easier things. I love the items that don't take much time to see results, but when all is said and done, I'm learning, I guess that's what counts most, right?.Trishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17704434765943152802noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1909699260576204174.post-40155030675561733482009-10-14T13:36:00.004-05:002009-10-19T23:00:22.217-05:00A Little of This and Not Much of ThatHi again, it's just me trying to think of something to write in this space I've been given. The rain left us, but the fog moved in. It looks like it's gonna be awhile before things get dried out. I know this isn't a very creative way to use blogger, but it's mine and until I can decide how I want to use it, welll this is what you get..

I scoured the net for interesting stuff to post about, but there was way to much to choose from, so I will post about seeing a booga bag that I want to make for myself. I think those that have them love them, and I'm anxious to try my hand at knitting one. Just have to find a place to order some Noro yarn. Yes, I know there are many sites that sale it, but I need something that doesn't cost an arm and leg, especially since I'm not a working gal anymore. Funds are limited around here, and I just ordered new glasses at $526 dollars a pop. So my booga bag will have to be on the cheapy side.. hahaha
Have a fun filled day, and happy computerin' folksTrishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17704434765943152802noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1909699260576204174.post-91717654860148162292009-10-13T21:34:00.003-05:002009-10-19T23:01:20.021-05:00Rain, Rain Go AwaySheeesh, it has rained for days here in Texas. The water is so high, but the dang frogs just keep on croaking their little heads off, and they don't have a dry place to sit their little butts now, silly creatures. I'll be glad to see some sunshine. It's miserable to be inside all day, but at least it gives me time to read, crochet, or knit. I've been knitting ball band dish rags, and I do love the look of them. I'll try and show my progress when I figure out how to post a picture here on blogger. Until next time though, y'all stay dry, and may your days and nights be filled with happy times.Trishahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17704434765943152802noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1909699260576204174.post-6482141201172487982009-10-13T11:58:00.004-05:002009-10-19T23:02:12.953-05:00Welcome to Trisha's Dibbles An DabblesHi and welcome to Trisha's Dibbles An Dabbles blog.
